Over 40 students from Campion School, Myton School and Round Oak School had a great opportunity last week to visit Aston Villa Football Club. The aim of the trip was to reward the students for their commitment to their school football teams and also to help them develop further as a team.
The day started with the schools joining together to travel to Aston Villa in a coach. A buzz of excitement filled the coach as they girls discussed what they thought the day would be like.
The girls were welcomed by the Villa coaches and had a great 2 hour coaching session on the indoor astro turf facility. This great facility ensured that the cold weather could not stop the girls having a great day out.
After lunch the girls had a tour of the stadium. They had the opportunity to go into the home and away changing rooms and experience what it would be like to be a professional footballer.
After a photo shoot in the stands the girls were able to sit in the dugout and walk round the pitch. Although a little disappointed they couldn’t go on the pitch the girls understood the work that goes into maintaining the ground and were amazed by the quality of the pitch. After a quick look round the souvenir shop it was time to head back to school.
The students had a great day and not only got to develop their skills but also to see what goes into running a professional football club. The three schools involved hope to join together next term for another exciting reward trip for the students.
